A 42-year-old woman with Abdominal Angina (chronic mesenteric ischemia), a rare and crippling vascular condition brought on by a decreased blood supply to the intestines, has been successfully treated by medical professionals at Fortis Hospital Anandapur.  The patient underwent a complex minimally invasive angioplasty procedure that restored blood flow to her intestines and completely relieved her symptoms. The patient was successfully treated by the medical staff under the direction of Dr. Shuvanan Ray, Director & Chief, Interventional Cardiology, Fortis Hospital Anandapur, and was discharged in stable condition after just two days.

After meals, especially large ones, the patient had been suffering from severe and ongoing abdominal pain. Her quality of life was greatly impacted by the pain, which would last for several hours before going away. She saw several specialists over the course of several months. At a prestigious hospital in Hyderabad, she underwent numerous investigations, including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy. Despite thorough examinations, no conclusive diagnosis could be made, and she kept taking gastric medications to treat her symptoms without any improvement.
