Samannay As An Excellent Theme Of Tulir Taney’s 26th Annual Program

The historic Madhusudan Mancha recently bore witness to a soul-stirring convergence of art and empathy as Tulir Taney celebrated its 26th Annual Program. This year’s theme, Samannay, served as a poignant reminder of the power of creative unity, bringing together children from diverse backgrounds on a single stage.
The visionary force behind this initiative, Dr. Nupur Mukherjee, has dedicated over a decade to a transformative mission: integrating children with special needs into the mainstream through the rigorous discipline of Indian classical dance. Her philosophy transcends mere performance, aiming instead to foster an inclusive society where physical or cognitive differences are eclipsed by artistic expression.

The event opened to a packed house, with the atmosphere further elevated by a soulful musical performance by Subhra Ma’am, whose melodies set a serene tone for the evening. The highlights of the night were the meticulously choreographed group dances. The female ensemble, in particular, captivated the audience with their synchronized movements and expressive storytelling, embodying the grace of classical traditions.

A moment of immense pride for the institution was the announcement of its academic excellence. One of the talented students of Tulir Taney secured the second position in the prestigious Kathak Visharad examination conducted by Pracheen Kala Kendra. This achievement underscores the high caliber of training provided at the center, proving that dedication knows no bounds.

Beyond the aesthetic appeal, Dr. Mukherjee utilized the platform to highlight the profound impact of Dance Movement Therapy (DMT). During a press interaction, she explained how dance acts as a therapeutic tool for holistic development. For the past ten years, Tulir Taney has been a pioneer in using DMT to bridge the gap between mainstream and autistic children.
“Our journey is about more than just steps and rhythm; it is about building a world where every child feels they belong”, Dr. Mukherjee stated, appealing for continued societal support.

The 26th-anniversary celebration was not merely a cultural showcase but a testament to the fact that when art meets humanity, it creates a Samannay that can reshape the social fabric. The evening concluded with a standing ovation, marking another milestone in Tulir Taney’s journey toward an inclusive future.
