A Great Start To Kidderpore Jagannath Mandir’s Rath Yatra 2026

With great devotion, grandeur, and lively cultural celebrations, the Kidderpore Jagannath Mandir commemorated the auspicious occasion of the Rath Yatra 2026. Today’s festivities started with a vibrant Rath Yatra procession from Kidderpore’s Jagannath Temple to Northern Park in Bhawanipur, where the gods will remain until July 23. On July 24, the Bahuda Yatra will take place to commemorate their return trip.
The traditional Chhera Pahanra ritual, carried out by BMW Industries Ltd. Chairman Shri Ram Gopal Bansal, was one of the procession’s main highlights. This ancient custom represents selfless service to God and humility. Devotional Kirtan and the rhythmic Ghanta-Shankh Badan performed by Shri Srikhol Debasish & team enhanced the procession even more. Throughout the journey, devotees and onlookers were engaged by these cultural performances that enhanced the spiritual atmosphere.

One of the most popular Hindu festivals is Rath Yatra, which honors Lord Jagannath’s yearly trip to his aunt’s home. The celebration represents spiritual unity, inclusivity, and divine love. The festivities at Kidderpore Jagannath Mandir reaffirmed Kolkata’s enduring spiritual and cultural traditions while demonstrating a strong dedication to protecting India’s rich cultural legacy.
The chief guest, West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari, will open the Odisha Festival at Northern Park on July 17. Prof. P. K. Mishra will be presented with the Utkala Samman as part of the program. The Soul 2 Sole Academy will then perform Kathak and Odissi dances.
Prasad Sevan will be served daily from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm and from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the venue.
