The official poster for Autobi has been released, giving viewers a first look at a gripping psychological thriller that promises an eerie mix of survival, mystery, and emotion. Amit Mitra composed the music for the film, which is directed by Soumava Banerjee and produced by D.K. Bharti through Siddhi Vinayak Creations.

Rahul Arunoday Banerjee plays jungle guide Shamik, Madhumita Sarcar plays Dimple, Inaaya Chowdhury plays Taniya, Shaheb Chatterjee plays Bangladeshi journalist Shakib, and Aryann Bhowmik plays Dimple’s husband Sanjib.

Autobi chronicles the intense journey of two sisters, Dimple and Taniya, whose lives are irrevocably changed after they witness a terrible family tragedy as children. Trauma has bound them together, and Dimple grows up thinking that her biggest duty in life is to protect her younger sister.

When Dimple learns that Taniya, who is now a teacher, has mysteriously vanished in Jhargram, the narrative takes a terrifying turn. According to the investigation, she was last observed going into Chamsutti, a forbidden forest that the locals dread due to its spooky reputation. Chamsutti is said to be a mayabi forest that preys on weak minds, ensnaring guests in horrifying hallucinations that eventually cause them to perish.

Traveling to Jhargram with the intention of bringing her sister back, Dimple meets Shakib, a journalist from Bangladesh who is investigating the myths surrounding Chamsutti, and Shamik, a reluctant local guide who is troubled by the folklore of the forest. The three go into the forbidden woods in pursuit of Taniya, disregarding repeated warnings.

Reality gradually starts to fall apart as they travel farther into the dense forest. Logic and technology are unreliable once inside Chamsutti, Shamik cautions. Dimple’s delicate mental state starts to worsen when she unexpectedly discovers that her necessary medication is missing. The distinction between reality and illusion is blurred by eerie visions, shadowy figures, and whispering voices, making her wonder about the intentions of people in her immediate vicinity as well as the supernatural power of the forest.

Before the forest consumes her forever, what starts out as a desperate rescue mission quickly turns into a terrifying struggle for survival in which Dimple must face the ghosts of her past while attempting to discern reality from deception.

Soumava Banerjee, the director, said, “Every movie starts with a narrative, but Autobi started with a feeling. Autobi is an experience rather than merely a movie. It’s a journey where mystery meets emotion, fear meets love, and every decision has a cost. Our goal was to tell a story that would keep viewers emotionally engaged until the very last frame, not just another thriller”.
